    Hi, I’m Susan, also known as SpaceCase. This is my website.

    I started The Space Suitcase on May 10th, 2004 with a post about Washington from Welcome Back Kotter. Since then, the site has been hosted on various platforms until I finally settled on my self-hosted Wordpress site in 2006.

    As of this writing (May, 2009) I live in Louisville, Kentucky with my husband, Mr. Martini and our two Siamese cats, Ruby and Zelda. We moved to Louisville in September of 2008 after living in Chicago for six years. We’re still getting used to it, but so far we’re really enjoying our new city.

    A little history, because this is the type of stuff I love to read on other people’s “About Me” pages: I grew up in New Hampshire, and still consider myself a New Englander at heart. I spent my formative years thinking I’d be a professional actress (in fact, the first few months of posts on this website detail a summer Mr. Martini and I spent in Ohio at a Shakespeare festival). I don’t want to be an actress anymore. I work in a very numbers oriented job, and it suits me, even if it makes me crazy sometimes. I spend my free time knitting, crafting, watching lots of TV. I spend my lunch hours reading.

    Here are some posts from the last five years that I think say a lot about me. Some are funny, some are nothing but navel-gazing drivel. Many of them focus on living in Chicago, and the amazing people you see on the trains and buses.  I think you’ll get a good idea of who I am from reading some of them.

    (For what it’s worth, 2006 was particularly light-hearted. Maybe because it’s the year we adopted the cats.)
