For Us, Christmas Equals Eating

We had a very good Christmas. A very quiet, relaxing Christmas, which was just what we needed.

On Christmas Eve, Mr. Martini and I went out for our annual Christmas Eve Dinner. This is the one meal we treat ourselves to every year, where we go all-out and get a fantastic (expensive) meal and enjoy it to the fullest. Which in this case this year, meant a cosmo for me and a glass of wine for Mr. Martini:

The meal was good, too. If you ever go to Z’s Oyster Bar and Steakhouse in Louisville, I highly recommend the filet, “Oscar” style which means it’s topped with fresh lump crab and a hollandaise sauce. Personally, I scraped all of the extra stuff to the side to make sure the steak was still good, and it was probably the best steak I have ever eaten. No joke. When they say “the best filet in town,” they mean it. And the lump crab was fantastic, too.

Christmas day was pretty mellow, because we were still in food comas from dinner the night before. We exchanged gifts, ate the traditional (for me) cinnamon biscuits from a pressurized tin, and relaxed all day.

And really, that’s all we’ve been doing since. Although yesterday I went a little crazy and cooked an entire Christmas dinner for the two of us (details on my Almost Crafty site, if you’re interested):

Needless to say, we were too full from Christmas Eve dinner to eat this on Christmas, but it tasted fantastic on Sunday night.

And that’s about it. I know a lot of folks travel over Christmas, but we just couldn’t this year. But that was A-OK with us, as we had a nice, quiet, yummy Christmas on our own. And now, to look ahead to New Years!
