I Am SO Not Cool
This week has been lacking in excitement, although it has given me the opportunity to remind myself how NOT cool I am. To wit: I spoiled a surprise birthday cake celebration at work this week. I could use the excuse that the e-mail did not include the phrase, “PS – Susan, this is a SURPRISE” but really, I should have figured it out and not blabbed to the birthday girl.
Also to wit: I just used the phrase “to wit.” TWICE.
Thirdly: I had to look up “to wit” to see if it had an “h” in it. Luckily, I’m not the only one who ever asked this question.
Anyway, yeah, so I’m not the coolest chick on the block. But I can learn to live with that, considering that I never really was in the past, so it’s not like this is any surprise. I’ll always spill food on myself, I’ll always wear my pants just a touch too short (the dryer shrinks them!), I’ll always have cat scratches and messy hair and that’s OK. I’m me. And that’s not changing.
In other news this week, I’m going to admit that I have done absolutely no move planning or packing yet. I also refuse to clean the house, using the excuse “Why should I clean the bathroom? We’re moving in less than a month, I’ll clean it when we move out.” Which is an effective way to get out of cleaning, but it does mean that we’ll be living in squalor until the movers arrive.
But we do have movers! Mr. Martini booked them, and they’ll be arriving at our doorstep on Halloween. We’re hoping that this move won’t take too long, as they’ll just be moving the furniture and a few heavy boxes of books. The rest will be carted over in the weeks prior, if this all works out according to plan. We’ll see.
I don’t suspect we’ll get much packing done this weekend, though, as we’ll be shopping for a new washer/dryer to put in the basement of the new place. I have never purchased a large appliance like this, so this should be fun. Considering our miniscule budget, I don’t think we’re going to have many options about what we can purchase, which in fact may just make the entire process that much easier. Hurray for thriftiness, and getting us out of the store that much faster!
Wow, this post is all over the map today. That’s what happens when I eat a co-workers Halloween candy and then sit down to type. Coincidentally, the candy was snuck from the empty desk of the co-worker whose surprise birthday cake party I spoiled yesterday. Sorry again, A!
How about I wrap this up with a cute cat picture?
I feel like Ruby is silently judging me.
Happy weekend, everyone!

May I suggest a scratch-and-dent appliance shop? But I don’t actually have experience with buying appliances at one, so it might not be a great idea. But then again, it might! Every time I do laundry in our Frigidaires (I didn’t even know they made washers and dryers until we bought them) and don’t have to put quarters in or carry clothes outside my house, I am grateful.
