Post Vacation, Looking Ahead
I had a bit of a post vacation letdown last week. Nothing major, just that typical blues you get dealing with real life after a week where the most pressing decisions are when to go swimming in the ocean, how late to sleep in, and where to find the best seafood restaurant. Getting back to the daily grind after a week of sun, sand, family and food was a bit of a let down.
Added to that was the extra pressure I put on myself before the vacation started. “Oh, I’ll worry about that after I get back from the beach” had been my excuse to put off starting a “get healthy” regimine. I also knew that after the vacation, we (Mr. Martini and I) would have to start looking for a new apartment, and we (Ms. Shutterboo and I) would be coming up on our busy season at work. Basically, I had set myself up for a lot of extra hassle on the heels of some major relaxation.
So it’s no wonder that by last Thursday, my mind was going in a million different directions. The only way I know to calm my jagged nerves in times like these is to break out a new notebook, and make some lists.
Seeing it all written out in black felt tip marker really put things in perspective. I can’t do it all at once, but I can take things one step at a time. I’ve also left myself room to play, and to pursue challenges for the coming months that will force me to be more creative and not get so bogged down in the details. Now, I’m actually looking forward to the fall, rather than dreading it.
In other words, things are looking up.
There’ll be more information to follow as the weeks progress, but it feels good to get back in the swing of things. Bring it on, world. I’ll be ready.

Lists! They really are the way to help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. I love you, lists! Glad to hear that things are looking up.
